Tagetes is a genus of plants from the daisy family (Asteraceae). The plant has a high content of lutein which plays an important role for our eyes. It protects the eye from sunlight damage and provides sharp vision in the macula. Lutein absorbs blue light before it reaches the photoreceptors. This reduces the formation of free radicals that damage the retina. It can thus reduce the risk of age-related eye diseases.
