The oak tree (Quercus) is a member of the beech family (Fagaceae). The main ingredients responsible for its effects are tannins. Applied internally, it positively influences diarrhoea, chilblains, and hyperhidrosis of the feet; applied externally it has astringent (contracting) effects on haemorrhoids and bleedings.
