Heather Flowers Ointment

Heather, also known as broom heather or heather, is a dwarf shrub with small red to purple flowers that is now widespread in the northern hemisphere. This „Flower of the Year 2019“ is considered an acid indicator and has a special significance in beekeeping as heather honey. The flowers were already used in the late Middle Ages and Hieronymus Bock and Sebastian Kneipp also valued the plant for its ingredients. These are arbutin, hydroquinone and tannins, to name but a few. When used externally, they can reduce reddening of the skin. Soothing effects on heated joints are also utilized.
